This meeting was scheduled to be thirty minutes, but it turned out to last over three hours! The buyer, Michelle instantly fell in love with Yes To. She was exceptionally excited about a natural skin and hair care line that actually worked, was stylish, positive, and most importantly priced well. (And maybe the orange tie helped?) It was our first big win, and I’ll never forget it.
The real work started after Michelle gave us an online trial on Walgreens.com. We had to figure out manufacturing and shipping logistics from Tel Aviv to the United States (which was not an easy task). After breaking a couple sweats, renting an airplane (yes, this is true), and asking our family and friends for help we made it work. The online trial was extremely successful, and led to Walgreens saying YES to sixteen Yes To Carrots products in 5800 stores.
When we got our first Walgreens order, we thought it was for 800 units of each product. ‘No biggie,’ we said…’we can do that!’ Little did we know, however, that the order was actually for 800 cases of each item (umm…that’s over 150,000 total units!). This was a HUGE ‘make it work’ moment. It was at then that we knew we were in for a crazy ride. This was the start of a journey of saying YES, rolling up our (orange) sleeves, and making things happen.
Since then there have been many defining moments here at Yes To, but something I make sure to remind my team of is that YES is the most powerful word in the world. It’s incredible what can be achieved if you start and end your day on a positive note. Five years ago we started our journey by saying ‘YES.’ Today we say ‘YES’ every single day…YES to being in over 28,000 stores around the globe…YES to offering over 80 (kick butt) products…YES to spreading the positive love…and YES to our 5th birthday (even though we don’t look a day over 4)…
